Weekly Wine Review - Washington State Syrah - 2010 Kestrel Syrah Kestrel View Estate Vineyard

I recently tried the Kestrel Tribute Red, and wanted to try a single varietal offering from the same winery. The Tribute Red was a solid "B" wine, let's see how we do with this Syrah!

Wine: 2010 Kestrel Syrah Kestrel View Estate Vineyard
Region: Yakima Valley, Washington State
Grape Varieties: Syrah
Obtained from: Purchased at Total Wine & More
Price: $17
Wino4Life Category: Everyday Wine
Aeration before tasting: Just a swirl or two, no special aeration.
Cork Condition: Screw Top.
Appearance: Wine is clear, dark purple with a pink rim.
Aroma: Blackberries, black cherries, cedar, leather.
Taste: Fruity with nice balance and nice acidity, with a fairly good finish.
The Grade: I give this one a B. A good, but for the price you can probably find something a little better - especially in Washington wines where you can still find great value (for now at least, until too many more figure out what great wine they are making up there!)
