Weekly Wine Review - Champagne- Franck Bonville "Belles Voyes" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

The wife's Birthday Feast this year called for a little bubbly...so we had a little bubbly! I purchased this one at my new favorite wine store in Hollywood - KL Wines (a little far away from Arizona, but they ship!). Blanc de Blanc Champagne is made from 100% Chardonnay, unlike other Champagne which may also contain Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier (yes...Red Wine grapes!).

Wine: Franck Bonville "Belles Voyes" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Region: Champagne, France
Grape Varieties: Chardonnay
Obtained from: Purchased at KL Wines, Hollywood, California
Price: $70
Wino4Life Category: Splurge Wine
Aeration before tasting: No special aeration.
Cork Condition: Natural cork - no defects or issues.
Appearance: Clear, straw colored, small delicate bubbles as you'd expect from good Champagne.
Aroma: Honey, golden raisins, biscuit dough, spices - delicate but complex.
Taste: Very crisp, very complex, wonderfully long finish.
The Grade: I give this one an A. If you want great Champagne for a special occasion, there are great choice other than Dom Perignon or Vueve Cliquot. This was a great wine that paired very well with a cold beet salad and a Butternut Squash, Carrot and Ginger soup.  Oh... and according to her blog... I think the wife liked it!
