Weekly Wine Review - Australian Red Blend - 2011 Sons of Eden Kennedy

I thoroughly  enjoyed the Sons of Eden Romulus, so decided to give their less expensive GSM blend wine a try. Screw top, so we didn't even need a corkscrew!

Wine: 2011 Sons of Eden Kennedy
Region: Barossa Valley, Australia
Grape Varieties: GSM (Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre)

Obtained from: Purchased at K&L Wines, Hollywood, CA
Price: $29
Wino4Life Category: Weekend Wine

Aeration before tasting: Just a swirl or two, no special aeration.
Cork Condition: Natural cork - no defects or issues.

Appearance: Red with a bit of purple.
Aroma: Blackberry, plum, coffee, licorice.
Taste: Nicely balanced, lots of dark berry and coffee flavor. Not super complex, but a great finish.

The Grade: I give this one an A. I really like this wine, a great proportion of the grapes in the blend.  A wonderful weekend wine that would pair nicely with BBQ, steaks, and lamb.
