Weekly Wine Review - Australian Shiraz - 2012 Kilikanoon Killerman's Run Shiraz

I've often heard it's best to buy the cheapest house in a great neighborhood. How about buying the cheapest wine from the maker of some great higher end wines... let's see!

Wine: 2012 Kilikanoon Killerman's Run Shiraz
Region: Clare Valley
Grape Varieties: Shiraz

Obtained from: Purchased at K&L Wine, Hollywood, CA
Price: $13
Wino4Life Category: Everyday Wine

Aeration before tasting: Just a swirl or two, no special aeration.
Cork Condition: Natural cork - no defects or issues.

Appearance: Dark purple with red rim.
Aroma: Dark fruits - blackberry & black cherry, chocolate, and a bit of oak.
Taste: Definitely a big Aussie Shiraz...big fruit with a very excellent and persistent finish, nicely balanced.
The Grade: I give this one an A+.  For $13 this is a knockout wine. Double the price would be very reasonable.  I will note this one in my never ending quest to find great bottles of wine for $15 or less... it is possible!!!  Pair with Vegemite... just kidding, I don't think that stuff pairs with anything!!!
