Weekly Wine Review - Spanish Red - 2008 Bodegas Olarra Rioja Cerro Anon Reserva

This year we aren't able to make it to Spain, and from my wine shopping it's clear that I'm missing it already!  This winery is on the outskirts of Logroño in the Rioja region of Spain.  A candidate for a visit next year??? Let's find out!
Wine: 2008 Bodegas Olarra Rioja Cerro Anon Reserva
Region: Rioja, Spain
Grape Varieties: Tempranillo

Obtained from: Purchased at K&L Wines, Hollywood, CA
Price: $18
Wino4Life Category: x Wine

Aeration before tasting: Just a swirl or two, no special aeration.
Cork Condition: Natural cork - no defects or issues.

Appearance: Clear, dark red with a slightly yellowing rim - showing that it is almost 8 years old.
Aroma: Cherry, vanilla, a touch of chocolate (is this an ice cream sundae or a wine??).
Taste: Easy drinking, good balance and a pleasant finish.

The Grade: I give this one a B. Overall a very nice wine, but I expected a bit more complexity for the "Reserva" label and the extra aging that requires in Spain.  Although at $18 for a Reserva I can't complain too much.
