Weekly Wine Review - Italian Red - 2011 One True Vine If You See Kay

Sometimes it's just about the name and the label.  Should I factor in more when picking out a wine... probably... but sometimes it's just about the name and the label. Say the name of this wine out loud and see if you agree!

Let's drink!
Wine: 2011 One True Vine If You See Kay
Region: Lazio, Italy (central Italy - encompasses Rome)
Grape Varieties: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot and 5% Primitivo (Geek Speak: Primitivo is closely related to Zinfandel. They are both clones of a Croatian grape called Crljenak).

Obtained from: Purchased at Total Wine & More
Price: $18
Wino4Life Category: Everyday Wine

Aeration before tasting: Just a swirl or two, no special aeration.
Cork Condition: Natural cork - no defects or issues.

Appearance: Clear, dark, dark purple from those big boys Cab and the close cousin of Zin!
Aroma: Lots of blackberries, some green herbs, and a hint of vanilla.
Taste: Nice and fruity!  The tannins are a tiny bit harsh, but nothing a little decanting wouldn't address.  Nicely balanced with a nice long finish.

The Grade: I give this one an A. Fun name, fun label, fun wine for under $20 - I like it. If you see Kay, tell her the wine is really good!  Let this one breathe a little bit and those tannins should be tamed.  Cheers!
